Pakistan's president office has decided to award president medals to members of Indian Public accounts committee(PAC) for ensuring that democratic values are held to its peak in its meeting. A statement by honorable president said that PAC in India has epitomized the believe in democracy by rejecting its own report on majority insistence. The statement further read that President of Pakistan has believed in democracy since the times of general Jia Ul Haq and admire people and parliamentarians of India for their record of maintaining democracy in all situations weather it is while electing Govt. or while probing charges of corruption against its own Govt. President has been extremely pleased with this step of Indian PAC by which they have shown their faith in Pakistan's style of democracy and want to confer president medal to them for this.
This gesture of president have revoked mix reactions in both the nations.
In India, some PAC members have welcomed this decision of President and said it to have vindicated their stand. They said that now when president of Pakistan have approved their stand they felt overwhelmed. But some other members of PAC including its chairman which are in minority have said that this is the proof that other members have been acting on the behalf of Pakistan. They also blamed other members of spying in PAC on behalf of the neighbor country.
Congress spokesperson Manish Tiwari congratulated medal winner and said Congress as a party will continue to strengthen Indian democracy by penetrating Nehru-Gandhian values in all such democratic institutions weather its CVC, PAC or JPC. However he ducked the question when asked about whether he is talking about values of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawahar Lal Nehru or values of present members of Nehru Gandhi family. But as expected Digvijay Singh maintained a different stance and said that this is a conspiracy by RSS and BJP. He claimed that by doing this RSS and BJP want to malign all the constitutional post holders. Baba Ramdev also aired his views about it. He said that by doing this Pakistan has questioned India's Swabhiman (self respect) and Atma Shakti(This literally means Self Power, but this reporter have failed to identify any relationship between this and current scenario so putting it as such as it is open to interpretation). Narendra Modi reached one step ahead and said that he will take revenge of this with Pakistan once in power.
Experts on India Pakistan relations have welcomed this step as one of good confidence building measure (CBM). Prof JK Bhandari of JNU said that he hope to see more of such kind of gestures from both the countries. He also suggested that candidature of Pakistani nationals should also be considered for these kind of constitutional committees as they apart form bringing both nations closer can bring international perspective to the committees.
But his step of Pakistani president have raised some voice of dissent back home. Head of charity organization Jammat Ud Dawa Hafiz Md Saeed (known for some other reasons) has identified this as an act of treason and said that President has betrayed thousands of Mujahidins fighting in Kashmir and Afghanistan on behalf of ISI (Indus services intelligence)(Although full form you know is correct) by conferring this medal to Indian parliamentarians instead of them. But officials of Pakistani Govt rejected these claims by saying that there is no place of people and views like these in democracy as vibrant as Pakistan.
